Position Overview

Primary Purpose of the Position

Journey level locksmith with the responsibility of establishing and maintaining the campus great-grand-master keying system. Must be able to set up new keying within the existing great-grand- master keying system, keep accurate records, both manually and electronically, establish and maintain key code system, rekey areas as needed, and maintain adequate stock materials to make repairs and adjustments in a timely manner. Works with contractors to establish keying systems for new and renovated construction projects. Reviews all hardware schedules for new and renovated construction projects to ensure compatibility with existing hardware and systems. In addition to maintaining the keying program, this person must also be knowledgeable in the rebuilding and repair of a variety of door closers, electronic security systems, window and door locking systems, and panic exiting devices. Must be able to prepare doors and cabinetry for hardware installation and repair.

Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Must be familiar with Mortise Locking mechanism and capable of pinning cores up or above 6. Have ability to install & remove cores and cylinders and cut keys. Supervisor experience and experience in electronic hardware and computer activated installation and repair. Computer literate and fluid with Microsoft office software.
