Position Overview

Primary Purpose of the Position

Currently, the Division of Nursing seeks applicants to teach courses in the School of Health Sciences for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Teach and facilitate the application of nursing theories, principles and skill competencies.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Teach and facilitate the application of nursing theories, principles and skill competencies.
Providing excellent, accessible, and responsive programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels. Graduates are prepared to be leaders in assuring health equity of under served individuals and communities; providing compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care; and educating our next generation of nurses.

Requirements and Preferences

Minimum Experience/Education

Masters of Science in Nursing. Under special circumstances, consideration may be given to persons with a baccalaureate degree and Clinical Teaching Associate certification via NWHEC.

Minimum of two (calendar) years full-time employment or equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse verified with the Board of Nursing.

Work experience and/or teaching experience in the area of community health nursing.

Must have preparation in teaching and learning principles in adult education as defined by the Board of Nursing.

Current unrestricted RN license to practice in the state of North Carolina

Normal Work Schedule

Work schedule varies and is dependent on classes taught.

Department Required Skills

Demonstrated clinical expertise in specialty area. Teach the application of theoretical nursing skills in clinical practice. Effective management of conflict and time. Provides student performance evaluative feedback.

5. Utilize multiple and varied teaching methods applicable to the clinical learning environment
6. Serve as a nursing resource person for healthcare and local agencies
7. Model professionalism in social and civic areas
B. Professional Development
1. Evidence of continued professional development and/or certification in a specialty area of practice and professional organization
2. Utilize feedback from student/faculty evaluations for instructional improvement
3. Serve as a role model for students in the professional, social and civic area
C. Research and Investigation
1. Utilize evidence-based research in teaching and the practice of nursing
2. Utilize opportunities to increase own knowledge by attending research conferences,
classes and symposiums
